What does our team need to consist of?
Given the growth of the Carnival over the first two years, we have expanded to allow any number of teams to enter each competition. Some teams need to be mixed, whilst others can be any makeup of gender. We’re all about participation and encouraging everyone to get involved and play.
As this is a ‘corporate’ event, the majority of your team needs to consist of people from your business. There are no worries including friends, family, clients or marquee signings in your team, as long as these players don’t form the majority
Can I play more than one sport?
It’s not a good idea. Individuals and teams should only register to participate in one sport only, as all sports will be played at the same time and we cannot guarantee clashes in the draw. We don’t want to see forfeits due to teams not having enough players to play.
Organisations however, are encouraged to enter different teams across sports and really make their mark on the Carnival.
What are the team uniform requirements?
All teams will need to organise their playing uniforms, including bibs for the netball competition. Being creative with your team uniform design is a great way to attract attention and promote your organisation.
So far the team from AECOM had bright orange uniforms in 2010 and bright blue in 2011 – what will 2012 bring? You certainly couldn’t miss the pink DERM netball team, flouro yellow BOC touch team, ghastly green Ergon and PASS teams or the two glaringly orange Brazier Motti teams in 2011.
As a major sponsor of the NQ Corporate Carnival, the team at Struddys Sports will be able to help you out with everything you need to look the part. Give Grant or Julie a call on 4725 2533, or drop into the store on the corner of Nathan St and Fulham Rd.
What’s it going to cost?
In 2010 and 2011, it has been $55 per person to participate in the Carnival. In 2012, there will be a flat team registration fee for each sport, therefore you will have the opportunity to lower the cost per person by recruiting more players (up to the maximum permitted team number for that sport). Team registrations are:
- Touch Football – $550
- Tennis Doubles – $110
- Netball – $495
- Football 6′s – $440
- Table Tennis Doubles – $110
- Volleyball 6′s – $385
- Lawn Bowls – $220
- 3-on-3 Basketball – $165
- Athletics Sextathlon – $165
- Poker – $220
Fees are to be paid in full when registering your team. Teams will not be confirmed a place in the Carnival until their registration fee has been paid. For information on payment options, go to ‘How do we pay for our registration?’
What do we receive for our registration fee?
We work really hard to provide as much as we can so that you have a great day. All participants will receive:

The most successful business of the Carnival will be crowned the Bizrich NQ Corporate Carnivl Champion Business and will receive the impressive perpetual cup and get to spray champagne and sing a victory song. This winner is determined by the number of participants the business enters and their success in the different sports, so the more participants you have in the Carnival, the more chance of winning. GHD won the title in 2011 and are keen to go back to back.
Spirit of the Carnival awards will be presented to one person from each sport for having fun, encouraging their team mates, giving it their all, showing impeccable sportsmanship and participating in the spirit of the Carnival.
